For Jalebi Batter:

•          ½ cup all-purpose flour/maida

•          1 tsp corn flour

•          ¼ tsp baking soda

•          ½ tsp vinegar

•          1 tsp yogurt / curd

•          5 tbsp water (or as required)

•          ⅛ tsp turmeric powder/Haldi/yellow or Kesari food colour (optional)

For Sugar Syrup:

•          ¼ cup of water

•          1 cup sugar ¼ tsp saffron strands/ kesar (optional)

•          ¼ tsp cardamom powder / elachi powder

other ingredients:

•          1 tbsp ghee

•          Oil for deep frying

How To Make Hot, Sweet Jalebis?

  • In a mixing bowl, take all-purpose flour, corn flour, and curd and mix well.

  • Add half a teaspoon of vinegar and water to the mixture.

  • Gently, whisk the mixture in the round and circular directions for five minutes.

  • And add baking soda, ½ teaspoon turmeric or orange food colour and give a gentle mix. Once the batter is ready, pour this batter into the tomato ketchup bottles carefully and keep it aside.

  • Take a wide pan and heat oil and add 1 tablespoon of ghee. Once the oil warms nicely, squeeze the bottle and make round spirals with the batter.

  • When one side of the spiral Jalebi is partly cooked, turn over and fry the other side. You need to fry till the jalebis turns light golden-brown.

  • While this is getting ready, make sugar syrup with one cup of sugar and add cardamom or elaichi powder and saffron strands.

  • Once it is fried well, immediately drop the fried jalebis in the warm sugar syrup for 30 seconds.

And the tasty, crunchy and super-delicious Jalebis are ready to serve. Serve it hot with tea or a dessert for your after-meal. Jalebis will go missing in seconds.
